Benefits of Solar Power

Install Solar Power to improve your energy efficiency whilst helping to build a sustainable future.

City to Surf Solar are Clean Energy Council (CEC) accredited designers and installers of Photovoltaic grid-connect solar power. (CEC accreditation number A4144405).

If you have ever thought about getting solar power, now is the time to do it. Here are some of the reasons why:

Solar Energy reduces your impact on the environment.
Collecting solar energy from our sun is one of the most environmentally friendly ways to produce clean electricity. A 1 kilowatt system will save approximately 1.5 tonnes on greenhouse gases a year. Larger systems will save even more.

The Government Solar Credits will save you money.

The Government’s Solar Credits scheme will provide three times the RECs for PV systems up to 1.5 kW for systems installed from 1 July 2011. For more information on Solar Credits please visit our Solar Rebates/Credits page.

The new Solar Credits are not means tested.

Systems that were ineligible for the old $8000 government rebate will now be eligible for Solar Credits. This includes businessess and community groups.

Feed-In Tariffs will save you money.

Feed-In Tariffs (FITs) reimburse you for any power your solar electricity system feeds back into the grid. In Victoria, from January 1, 2012 you will be paid 25 cents/kWh* (Transitional Feed-In Tariff) for excess energy exported back into the grid from your solar electricity system, on a net metered arrangement. This means that you are paid for the extra electricity your system feeds back into the grid when it generates more power than your home needs.

* Some retailers will be offering a Feed-In Tariff greater than 25 cents/kWh, so ensure you shop around. Make sure you also compare the price you will pay for electricity consumed, as well as your feed-in tariff.

Solar Energy has no ongoing costs and will reduce your energy bills.

Solar energy is a renewable resource which will never run out. Once your solar system has been installed and connected, you have no ongoing costs. All you will be required to do is keep the panels clean.

Protect yourself from ongoing and inevitable electrcity price rises.

“Prices rose as much as 13 per cent on July 1 to fund $14.4 billion of spending on the electricity system…Household electricity prices are to rise by up to 17 per cent more from mid-next year and up to 25 per cent a year later.” The Age.com.au, August 15, 2011
